One Bad Show

That's all it takes to ruin someone's opinion on magic. Now that's really hard for me to wrap my brain around... We can hear a bad song on the radio or even in concert, but does that turn us off from listening to music forever? No of course not. That would be crazy. Magic on the other hand, can do that to people. It happened to me.
Now of course, I'm not going to reveal a name but a certain magician started to perform at my elementary school every year in my hometown of Columbia, SC. I swear it was the most boring thing I have ever seen. I always wanted to get out of school the days I knew he was coming. I even saw how everything done. He ruined all the magic in my life. I had been practicing little magic tricks at home by myself,  but just because of him I stopped all of it. I hated magic. I didn't want to go to parties or festivals or anything that had a stupid magician.
Luckily Brandon was different. He was so entertaining when he did magic. I saw his first big stage show and  it was the best thing I had ever seen! I was completely amazed! I wanted so badly to be the pretty assistant to him. But sadly he already had one...
A few weeks after I saw that show we began dating and eventually he ended up firing his assistants so here was my big chance. I had to beg him but he finally agreed to letting me join the team. You could get hurt, he warned me over and over and tried to change my mind but I wanted it so badly. I was super excited!
My first trick I learned with him was how to make a bowl of water disappear. Now it's not a very good trick but hey I was happy.
My first illusion practice was probably one of the scariest things in the entire world. The trick is called Metamorphosis. The curtain opens to a big box on stage, you watch the assistant tie up the magician in a bag and lock him in the box and then she climbs on top with a big curtain. Then when she lifts the curtain after it lowers, the magician is standing there and she is locked up inside the box wearing a different outfit! It's the fastest illusion in the world and happens in the blink of an eye. To this day it is by far still my favorite thing to perform. It is without a doubt one of the most dangerous effects in magic. I've been put on crutches by it and I can't tell you how many bruises and cuts I've collected from it.
I started working with Brandon in March of 2010 and by that next month we were able to perform it. Talk about the most terrifying moment ever. And just my luck, we had a dead audience for that show. I think we could have made the Titanic appear and they wouldn't have cared.
Obviously I got past that first show and got up the courage to get back onstage. Now I know from almost 3 years experience that you win some you lose some. And you reveal magic. It happens. But you can't get upset about it. Accidents happen.
Well back to wedding planning for now. I'll write again soon! Have a magical night!
